THE LIBRARY OF NINETEENTH-CENTURY PHOTOGRAPHY

The majority of the holdings in the library are taken from photographs in the collection of Paul Frecker, a London-based dealer in nineteenth-century photography. The primary focus of his collection is British and European cartes-de-visite and cabinet and stereo cards, ambrotypes, and large format albumen prints. This collection reflects Frecker’s taste in early commercial portrait photography, with sitters varying from British Royalty to sitters from Martinique, Japan, and Fiji.  www.19thcenturyphotos.com
