Autograph ABP is a registered arts charity with a remit in photography and moving image works that address cultural identity, race, representation and human rights. Established in 1988, it runs its own gallery in Shoreditch, London with a dedicated programme of exhibitions, events and educational activities. New commissions and publications form part of Autograph ABP’s wide-ranging local, national and international artistic programme – as well as research-led curatorial practice. Its Archive & Research Centre was established in 2008, with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund who regularly support its programmes. The Archive primarily houses Autograph ABP’s photography collection, which spans from the 1860s to the present day, encompassing more than 5000 historical and contemporary works by a diverse constituency of artists and image-makers.
